New Palm OS from Access, sort of

Finally, a new Palm OS after several years of hiatus. Freshly coming from Access, the company who bought the software’s source code, this new OS will be based on Linux platform. Yet, this is not a final version, since according to Palm:
I know that you never come right out and say that this is Palm’s official new OS, but just to be clear, the new Access OS is not the same as the OS we are developing. The development of our next OS is being handled all internally, and we are on track to introduce products based on that OS in the first half of 2009.
Let’s wait and see. But, will Access equip this OS to a new phone? Since Palm is now conquered by Microsoft, with its Windows Mobile, I think they should look for new partner. A partner who has commitment for open source initiative.
Anyway, beside new Palm OS, Access also creates the Garnett Virtual Machine (VM) for Nokia Tablet, for free. This is part of introducing Garnett to outside world. Well, a friend of mine still love her old Treo 650, run under Palm OS. It is light and very fast, not to mention only require a small amount of RAM. So, Access, please create another history by launching it as soon as possible into a phone, will ya!
