Four new phones from Willcom
The only PHS operator in Japan, Willcom, tries to strike the market by launching 4 new phones, effectively available this November. The first is Willcom 03. This phone was introduced earlier this year, but will be available by the end of the year. The sliding phone that probably resembles the HTC design of Xperia (minus the curve shape) is having touchscreen that enable the users to chat live by drawing or writing on the screen. The phone is currently available only in black color.
The second phone is Willcom LU (WS023T), designed by Toshiba, the first to use W-SIM card. The LU is abbreviation of Luminous You. The phone will have 2.4 inch screen, 240 x 320 pixels display, 2 megapixels camera that can read QR codes. It also has infrared and microSD slot, up to 2GB of memory. The NetFront browser is included, also with J2ME support. The price is abut US$ 455 and will be available in 3 colors, white, black, and pink. LU will be available in the market by early December.
The third phone is WX330J. The notable feature is waterproof form factor. The demo put the phone inside the water and all went smooth, nothing bad happen. The phone has 2 inch screen, Infrared for communication, and Java support. The price tag is about US$ 386 and be available this November.
The last phone is Honey Bee 2 or WX331KC. The phone colors is like eye candy, includes pink, blue, green, and black. The phone has 3.1 megapixels camera, IrDA, latest version of Opera, 14 MB memory and 4 MB dedicated space for email. It will have 3G connectivity and 2 inch screen. The price is US$ 300 and be available this early November.
