Softbank’s profit on raise, thanks to iPhone

It is said that iPhone 3G, the latest from Apple, is not that appealing to Japan society. Only 9% are interested among people surveyed. Yet, the 9% people have raised Softbank’s profit this Q3. Softbank, the third largest mobile manufacturer which has exclusive contract for iPhone distribution, reported to have 1.9% profit rose during July to September 2008.

Softbank spokesman, who declined to be named due to a company policy, said:

The iPhone certainly supported our profit and boosted the number of new mobile phone subscribers during the quarter. Since the July launch, iPhone sales have been very good.

Yet, no number is revealed about iPhone’s actual sales. During the quarter, the Softbank subscribers have increased by 521,400 people. Definitely it is part of iPhone “success” to conquer Japan. Japan has been known with its advanced technology in mobile industry, including e-wallet and one-seg TV digital, that has never been known in other part of the world, yet.
