Taiwan’s Chunghwa seals the deal for iPhone distribution
Chunghwa Telecom has confirmed to bring the iPhone 3G to Taiwan. Country’s largest mobile operator said that it will begin to distribute to phone starting December. Taiwan will be the 6th country in Asia to be officially sell the phenomenal gadget, after Japan, Hong Kong (includes Macao), Singapore, Philippines, and India.
This move is believed to be the open gate for iPhone 3G entering China Mainland. It is said that Chinese’s language (Pinyin) input system has finished first than Taiwanese’s Zhuyin. Apple definitely aims for bigger market, thus Taiwan will be a bait to enter larger potential market with special language input system.
Apple hasn’t signed any agreement with one (or more) China telecom operators regarding the distribution in China. This move definitely will boost iPhone sales penetration worldwide as China is the largest mobile market in the world.
As we wrote previously, Chunghwa will bring iPhone and Android phone to Taiwan. One mission has been accomplished, let’s wait for the second one.

@gene
Hi Gene, I know what you are talking about. China thinks Taiwan as part of its province, while Taiwan itself want to be considered as one freedom country. I try not to interfere with this political issue.
