Japanese’s language input for Android
A Japanese engineer working for Google’s Android development platform, codenamed Adamrocker, has released “simeji”, Japanese language input software that runs on Android phones and its simulator. It is good and free! Adamrocker is identified as Japanese engineer who serves as the leader of the DalvikVM Working Group and the Mash Working Group in the Japan Android Group.
Simeji is an abbreviation of Social IME ji. Ji means “characters” in Japanese. Here is a little technical thing about how this software works:
When simeji is started, a semi-transparent input window is layered over the window of an application being used. When characters are entered, the software refers to Social IME in real time and lists candidates for conversion. And when the user touches one of them, the selected conversion is displayed in simeji’s input area. At the same time, the conversion result is sent to Social IME as a learning result.
Some pictures below probably amy help you understand more on how this thing be implemented.
