iPhone: December in Korea too?
After BlackBerry Bold, seems like iPhone is chasing to be available in South Korea, after the announcing of the mobile network deregulation. How soon? Is it going to be this December too? “KTF could have released the iPhone in December if it had been allowed to,” said a source. But of course seems the regulation will prevent the phone to come, at least until next year.
KTF and SK Telecom, two of the largest telecom operator in the country, has showed their interest on distributing iPhone to South Korea. SK Telecom previously has confirmed to offer BlackBerry Bold for corporate users this December.
Industry analysts believe the increased influx of foreign handsets may strengthen the dominance of SK Telecom and KTF. Unlike SK Telecom and KTF, both using WCDMA technology for their 3G services, LG Telecom, the No. 3 carrier, is one of the few global carriers to use CDMA EV-DO Revision (A) to provide mobile data services, thus limiting its sourcing of foreign handsets.

Does anyone know whether an iPhone from another country, i.e. philippines, japan, or america will work in Korea when KTF finally sells them in April? I can’t wait to get one and I really don’t want to wait till April.

I don’t think so, but you may ask local operator about it.
