Microsoft’s Seadragon is set for iPhone

What is Microsoft aiming right now? Its Livelabs has released Seadragon for picture viewing as iPhone app! Okay, what’s this Seadragon can do? Seadragon is merely a picture viewer, believed to view pics in mobile as good as in PC with several promises like:

  1. Speed of navigation is independent of the size or number of objects
  2. Performance depends only on the ratio of bandwidth to pixels on the screen
  3. Transitions are smooth as butter
  4. Scaling is near perfect and rapid for screens of any resolution

So why Microsoft is creating app for iPhone, notably the competitor of its Windows Mobile? Probably the thing may come to 2 arguably reasons:

  1. Windows Mobile itself isn’t so capable of supporting Seadragon or any other next Livelabs creation
  2. iPhone’s Mac is acknowledged as superb (even by Microsoft engineers) and noted as the future gadget

So, is Microsoft going to become one of iPhone supporters? Before any comment about that, you can see how Seadragon performs in its blog page (please download Silverlight before viewing). If interested (and would like to use it in your iPhone), you can download Seadragon here.

Update: a screenshot of Seadragon app in iPhone from BGR:

  1. # 1 iPhone SDK

Well, this was quite unexpected :D I wonder if this is going to stay an iPhone-exclusive app.
