NTT DoCoMo unveiled low power LTE chipset
Japan largest operator, NTT DoCoMo, announced that its side successfully inventing a trial Large-Scale-Integration (LSI) chip that consumes only 0.04 W or less power for Long Term Evolution (LTE), the next generation network. It is two weeks after the rival, KDDI, revealing its intention of using LTE for its future network.
The chip supports multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) signal detection and decoding for downlink transmissions at 100 Mbps. In the new chip, which is made with 65-nanometer processing, the circuits have been further optimized, particularly by eliminating redundant circuits for computationally complex processes such as MIMO-signal detection and error-correction decoding.
This chip is part of experiment and will be continued as active support of the establishment of international standards.
