Digitimes Research: 5-8 million units Android to be sold in 2009
A research conducted by Digitimes Research estimates that Android platform phone, which is going to be boomed in 2009, will reach 5-8 million units to be sold. That will be counted as 4-7% of global market share.
Digitimes revealed that in 2009, there will be massive bandwagon of Android phone manufacturers. Beside big name like Motorola, Samsung, and LG Electronics, there are tons of smaller manufacturer that will join the party.
QiGi will launch its i6-Goal in China, as seen in video above. Other than that, Asus will launch its version of Android on first half 2009, while smaller company like Compal Communications, Inventec Appliances, and Qisda maybe come out with their products respectively by second half.
Other names include Lenovo, Huawei, and Kogan Agora; while US based Hop-on that will launch its Android phone in CES 2009. HTC, the maker of the first Android phone-T-Mobile G1-is reported to make customized Android phone for Vodafone and Japan’s NTT DoCoMo.
