Arima to ship two LG’s ultra-low-cost handsets in early 2009
Arima Communications was initially recognized as the supplier for Sony Ericsson. Residing in Taiwan, now Arima also create and will ship two LG’s ultra-low-cost handsets in early 2009. The phones is aimed to grab low end market in India, Thailand, and several other Latin America countries.
Arima is currently developing more than 10 handsets for LGE, including 5-megapixel and dual-SIM card models, with its handset shipments to the South Korea-based vendor likely to top 7-8 million units in 2009, the sources noted.
The sources also said that Arima is projected to create 10 million units for LG in 2009, although most likely due to global recession, this number will be reduced.
