iPhone in Thailand via True Move: January 16

Finally the question is getting an answer. iPhone 3G, the phenomenal device from Apple, will be available in Thailand by January 16. The carrier is non other than True Move, that has been reported to chase the iPhone launch in the country. Bear in mind that 3G network isn’t officially available in Thailand, so iPhone 3G users will only use EDGE/GPRS or WiFi connection for Internet purpose.

In other hand, larger operator, AIS, has failed to meet agreement with Apple for selling iPhone too. “We don’t accept Apple’s proposal to bring iPhone to the Thai market because we don’t think it will be good for us in terms of business,” Chief Executive Vikrom Sriprataks told to Reuters. True Move has 13 million subscribers, while country’s largest, AIS, has 26.8 million subscibers. This condition makes True Move for now to be the exclusive seller of iPhone in Thailand.

Thailand joins Singapore and Philippines to be the third country in Southeast Asia to offer iPhone 3G. Previously, the device started to sell in those two countries since Aug 22. More to this question, when will Malaysia and Indonesia catch up?

Apple, Asia Pacific, iPhone
