Fujitsu F-01A: the first phone with waterproof and fingerprint

Another innovation by the Japanese. In cooperation with AuthenTec, Fujitsu has launched the first world fingerprint-enable waterproof cellphone, named F-01A. The operator is NTT DoCoMo, country’s largest. AuthenTec is the provider of fingerprint sensors and solutions. The fingerprint feature is implemented using AuthenTec’s AES1711 fingerprint sensor. AuthenTec is headquartered in Florida and its Asia regional office is located in Shanghai.

Its waterproof feature, in other hand, meets IPX5 and IPX7 specification. It enables F-01A to be about 1 meter under the water for about 30 minutes without any problem.

The F-01A is based on a Symbian operating system and features a 3.5-inch widescreen VGA touchscreen display, 5.2-Mpixel camera with autofocus, built-in GPS using Mobile Google Maps with Street View, e-Wallet mobile payment capability, and a 1-Seg mobile TV tuner.
