Javelin on Indonesia’s Indosat, launching today
It is waiting no longer, since the BlackBerry Curve 8900, also known as Javelin, is officially coming to town. Thanks to Rosgani, I just find out that Indosat will hold an official launching of Javelin today-Jan 21-at Graha BIP Jakarta, starting from 7 PM. This must be a one step ahead of Telkomsel, the country’s largest operator, which is going to unveil Javelin by the end of January or early February. I must admit that for BlackBerry thingy, Indosat is still in front of its competitors.
If you browse further at Indosat site, actually you can pre-order the handset since December. The introduction price is IDR 7,777,000 (almost US$ 700) with special discount for 1000 first order. I remember Indosat was launching Bold with IDR 8,888,000 price tag. Some sort of lucky charm for Indosat’s sales? I don’t know whether this price is including one year push email and Internet subscription or not. For your information, in Germany the device is sold only for EUR 359.90 (US$ 477.58) with no string attached.
Javelin is the latest product in Curve category. Built with Bold’s design, Javelin combines the greatness in Bold and the small size of Curve. Also, Javelin has somewhat powerful camera (compared to other BlackBerry handsets) with 3.2 megapixels camera and completed with flash, autofocus, and 5x digital zoom. Furthermore, the phone features Wi-Fi, GPS, DivX and XviD support, and improved keyboard styling. Unfortunately, this beauty doesn’t have 3G connectivity.
