Survey: smartphone gone higher in 2008, thanks to iPhone and BlackBerry

Global financial crisis undoubtly reaches critical aspects in all areas, including mobile telecommunication. The current report shows that the 2008’s sales only increase 7.7% compared to previous sales. In other hand, smartphone shipments soars to 25%, equals to 154 million units. Smartphone shares 13% of all total mobile phone shipments.
This condition is triggered by the sales boost of iPhone 3G and BlackBerry devices. As iPhone expands their sales to even more countries and BlackBerry releases several new and chic devices (including Bold, Curve 8900, and Storm), people tends to spend their budget wisely to something they can optimally use, as replacement of their notebooks (or netbooks).
Techno System Research (TSR) which holding the survey even dare to predict that for this year, the smartphone market will have 18.6% growth, although the overall market is predicted to have 10.2% market declining.
