Toshiba to cease cell phone business in Japan
Japan’s top chipmaker Toshiba will end production of mobile phones in the Rising Sun country due to economic slump — and outsource production to China, instead.
According to Wireless Week, Toshiba’s global shipments of mobile phones plunged to 3 million units in the last fiscal year from 6 million units the previous year, while most of its cell phones were sold in Japan.
