3G revolution spurs content innovation and growth

No Content, No 3G

Indonesia, which has five 3G operators already, will be the third ASEAN country after Singapore and Malaysia to have WCDMA-based 3G services. We will be joining around fifty million people who already have access to this service around the world. But it's not clear what services the operators will offer. When the operators did 3G trials last years, they indicated that their services would be video conferences, video telephony and internet broadband connection only. Philippines’ Smart Offers New 3G Services

The Philippines's leading wireless services provider Smart Communications Inc. unveiled new 3G service offerings and announced the commercial rates for its 3G cellular service. Starting May 1, Smart postpaid and prepaid subscribers with 3G-capable handsets will enjoy enhanced applications and extensive rich media content on a commercial basis. These include live TV streaming of two major television networks and 3G downloads of full music tracks and video clips. With 800 cellsites covering 119 key cities and municipalities, Smart offers genuine nationwide 3G coverage.
