Is Motorola going to join Siemens to deadpool?

Well, I think everybody is really wondering about this situation. Motorola is seems not going anywhere. After the resignation of their CEO and CTO, the declining sales, dull product, and not very convincing plan in 2008, will the American pride join the German once respected, Siemens, to the deadpool?

Motorola unveiled 2 new phones in CES 2008

Yes, we are bored with RAZR-look-alike series. If you want to take back the position, you must be creative, Motorola! One of the effort is the launching of 2 new phones in CES 2008 last week. The first is ROKR E8. One fresh feature is touch keypad, named Omega Wheel. It has 2 megapixels camera but no 3G connectivity available. A fresh 2GB flash memory is equipped.

Motorola introduced fuel cellphone

US phone manufacturer, Motorola, introduced something we have been waiting for so long. Their SLVR L7 is powered with hydrogen! In creating the technology, Motorola are in cooperation with Canadian company, Angstrom Power. Angstrom claimed that the fuel cell lasts twice as long as an equivalent sized lithium battery, and recharges in just 10 minutes. Definitely something we need since we are tired charging 3-4 hours for only 2-3 days last. Source: vnunet

Motorola acquired Singapore’s Soundbuzz

For expanding MOTOMUSIC campaign, Motorola acquired Singapore based music download site, Soundbuzz. The price tag for this transaction is not disclosed. The acquisition, which is subject to customary conditions, is expected to close in the first quarter of 2008.

ZiNE for Motorola 2008 line up

Motorola confirmed naming ZiNE as their "kick-ass" 2008 line up. There will be 2 new phone to come up - at least. The first is the new touchscreen phone. Its dimension is slight big with kick slider and equipped with GPS and Wi-Fi.

Motorola CTO to step down too

Padmasree Warrior, Motorola's high profile Chief Technology Officer (CTO), will step down from her position following the succession of CEO chair. Warrior, who had appointed CTO since 2003, according to Motorola spokeswoman, Jennifer Erickson, the move was planned several months ago. Her official blog has already being shut down.

Motorola’s Greg Brown to be CEO

As the news spread, Motorola CEO, Ed Zander will step down by the end of this year. He will be replaced by current President and COO, Greg Brown. He has tough job, since phone competition is now filled with big major player, including Apple's iPhone.

Motorola to create 20-30 handsets in 2008

Motorola, who the sales is decreasing everyday, is trying to regain its position back. They plan to launch 20-30 handsets in 2008. Stated by Bill Chen, newly appointed Motorola Taiwan General Manager of mobile device business, Motorola aimed to re-capture the lead position in the Taiwan handset market.
