Sony Ericsson sold 100 million handsets in 2007

Japan-Swedish manufacturer, Sony Ericsson, which is now rank in number 4 of mobile producer, reported to sell 100 million handsets in 2007. Translated into percentage, now Sony Ericsson holds 9% of market share and plan to take the US market from Motorola. One big contribution made by its Walkman series. Among 145 million music phone sold last year, 57 million were Walkman phones.

2008: Sony Ericsson spotted USA

Mobile phone maker Sony Ericsson is giving high priority to North America, one of its global weak spots, in 2008, the company's new president Hideki Komiyama said. Komiyama, who took over from Miles Flint in November, said the Japanese-Swedish joint venture was still interested in emerging markets but would target higher income consumers there, not the very low end of the market.

Sprint Nextel new CEO steps down from Nokia board

Sprint Nextel new CEO, Dan Hesse, steps down from his position in Nokia's board of directors. As there is no mutual cooperation between the CDMA operator and largest GSM phonemaker, this announcement brings no surprise. Nokia tablet in top 3 Amazon’s holiday selling

Nokia tablet is proven to appeal US favors. Reported by Amazon, their tablet ranks best in top three holiday selling in PC category, along with MacBook and HP Pavilion Notebook. Verizon Wireless to join Android alliance?

One more big player to join Google initiative. Verizon Wireless seems going to use (and sell) Android platform phone. Verizon Wireless CEO, Lowell McAdam, said, "clearly the Android system gives a lot of developers the opportunity to develop applications for a wide range of handsets". Later he added, "we've talked with Google and we continue to analyze it".
