The Philippines: Globe secures 3G tax perk
The Philippines’ second largest mobile service provider Globe Telecom looks set to receive tax benefits and other incentives from the government, in order to support its foray into the 3G arena. In a statement, the Board of Investments (BOI), the promotions and incentives-giving arm of the Department of Trade and Industry, said it had published its evaluation report on Globe’s registration as a new operator of infrastructure and telecoms telephone system on a ‘pioneer’ status.
Europe: Jersey’s First 3G Mobile Network
Jersey Telecom will be launching the Island’s first 3G mobile service on June 1st 2006. The move is part of a £12 million investment programme that will see Jersey Telecom upgrade its ‘core’ mobile network over the next twelve months, bringing customers the very latest in mobile voice and data services.
Singapore: MediaCorp, M1 link for 3G
The Singapore based MediaCorp Studios has launched its own 3G mobile channel with telecom provider M1, MediaCorp Studios Mobile, which will feature drama serials, variety shows, and customised entertainment. The Highlights include a recently aired Mandarin drama, Love Concierge, as well as The Best of MediaCorp, a collection of snippets from various MediaCorp programmes. M1 also plans to roll out Singapore’s first 3G local entertainment channel. [3G!]
