Mobile WiMax in challenge?

A report, conducted by Arthur D. Little, being published by GSM Association and claimed to shred the business case of mobile WiMax in markets where 3G is already in service. Ericsson, as the WiMax opponent, reckons HSPA will have 20 times as many subscribers as mobile WiMax by 2011. At that time the HSPA is predicted to be used by nearly 600 million users, while mobile WiMax will only gain 20 million subscribers.

Telstra Unsure of 3G Customer Numbers

Everyone now speaks about the third generation (3G) tecnology and services. So how far you understand about the future of the high-tech telecommunication industry? Are you really using all 3G features when the service come to your mobile phone? Or you will use your 3G-enabled phone just for voice and short message service, huh? It's terrible... 3G Network Regulation Rings Telstra Alarm Bells

Telstra will seek Federal Government reassurance that it has no plans to ask the competition watchdog to regulate its new mobile phone network. Australia's Communications Minister Helen Coonan was yesterday quoted as saying Telstra would not be allowed to shut its CDMA mobile network, used in regional areas, until its third-generation (3G) network was operational. Whether it was fully operational would be determined by a "major independent technical audit", Senator Coonan told The Australian Financial Review. Telstra spokesman Rod Bruem said the suggestion of possible Government intervention had triggered "alarm" in Telstra management.
