Taiwan to spend $664 mln on WiMax

Taiwan is one of a few countries in the world which was ready to develop WiMAX. Reuters wrote that Taiwan decided to invest US$664 million over the next few years, as it agreed to work with five major manufacturers to develop that technology.

Taiwan will team up with Motorola, Alcatel-Lucent, Sprint Nextel, Starent Networks and the networking unit of Nokia.

The WiMax services sector in Taiwan alone would be worth US$4.24 billion by 2012.
