A really good news for Japan’s gadget otaku. The country’s largest operator, NTT DoCoMo, is planning to sell Google’s Android platform phone next year. DoCoMo is one member of Open Handset Alliance (OHA), organization that developed the Android OS, based from Linux. Probably the model that will be sold is based on HTC’s T-Mobile G1.

We obtained information from Taiwan News, saying that Taiwan’s Chunghwa Telecom–country’s largest operator–is about to sell both, iPhone and Android-based Gphone–made by HTC (similar to T-Mobile G1). Well, during these last 2 months, there are 200,000 units of iPhone 3G sold in Japan only, according to MM Research Institute. Yet, since Softbank Mobile, the exclusive operator, has about 19.5 million subscribers, it only count 1% for total subscribers! One good reason is that iPhone 3G has a high starting price.
