Nokia to stop selling phone in Japan
A very unfortunate decision for largest mobile manufacturer, Nokia. The Finn company has decided to cease sales in Japan, due to very tiny part amount of market share. The only arm that will stay is the luxurious Vertu. It is part of Nokia step on overcoming global economic downturn.
Japan is the fourth largest market in the world, after United States, China, and India. With over 109 million subscribers, that’s count 85% of total population, there is little room to grow for “outsider” like Nokia.
Foreign mobile companies, excluding Sony Ericsson, only occupy around 5 percent among total phone sold in the country. Nokia itself only holds 0.3 percent of it! No wonder for Nokia, Japan is very hard market to brake. As Nokia will only continue its journey in Japan with Vertu, seems like the MVNO planning, using DoCoMo network, will only focus on Vertu phones. For your information, Vertu phone may cost you from EUR 3,500 to over 100,000.

Japanese always love for their product, and they like SonyEricsson since Ericsson merger with Sony.

What Nokia news was there? Japan as the fourth largest market of the company may reduce the company turnover. Let’s hope some compromising solutions come out amongst the companies or Nokia may find more market abroad.
