Nokia to enter laptop world?
Nokia, the largest phone manufacturer in the world which actually was a pulp company, wants to enter computer domain by creating laptop? Reuters reported that Nokia’s CEO in interview to Finnish broadcaster told that Nokia are looking very actively also at this opportunity. Currently Nokia has a Tablet series, N810, powered by Debian Linux as an Internet tablet.
We know that major computer makers have already entered handheld industry. Hewlett Packard, Dell, Lenovo, Asus-even Acer-have tried or going to try their luck in mobile business. Why then Nokia cannot do a reverse action by entering notebook (or netbook) territory? Nokia has evolved from phone creator to smartphone, then Internet tablet. Creating notebook is just one step away.
One big question raised, what Nokia can offer to the market about their laptop? Nokia may have a solid distribution chain and technology, but the computer supply itself probably has already over populated for Finn company. Nokia is the world’s number one in mobile industry, but will it able to disturb Dell and HP hegemony? Or maybe Nokia wants to create something creative like Apple does all the way? The tablet sales shows that its Tablet series isn’t outperform the sales of iPod Touch. Definitely Nokia needs to work hard on realizing this dream.

Forget it, Nokia. You are so good at making fancy and handy cellphones. For me, Mac is for laptop and Nokia is for cellphone
