Britain’s BT Group has teamed-up with FON to create “the world’s largest” Wi-Fi community, adding 3 million consumers to a collective that already includes subscribers to France’s NeufCegetel and Time Warner Cable in the United States.

This is another third generation (3G) mobile phone spectrum auction in Britain. The auction could come as early as 2009 although it would not be expected to fetch anything like as much as the £22.5bn the Government raised in 2000 by selling five third generation licences.

Nokia recently announced a new commercial DVB-H pilot in Stockholm with Teracom in Sweden.
